Release Date: June 2024
Here you will find the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes for Driver Companion.
To ensure you have the best experience using our product, we recommend updating to the latest version available.
Note: The features available to you will depend on the configuration and the current version of the Driver Companion you're using.
What's New
Incentives
We are excited to introduce our newest feature, Incentives! You can now earn rewards for accepting difficult jobs and going above and beyond. By completing challenges, you can receive different rewards such as cash bonuses, which will be added to your earnings, the ability to jump to the front of the job queue, and the removal of penalties.
Note: Driver incentives is also supported by the current iOS Driver Companion 10.1 we released previously.
Challenges
On the Challenges screen, you can view all available and in-progress challenges. Completing challenges earns rewards that can be activated in My Rewards.
To view your available challenges:
- In Driver Companion, go to the left-hand menu and select Rewards from the list.
- Under Earned Rewards, select the Challenges button.
- View more details about a challenge by tapping the icon.
- Your challenges automatically start upon you completing a job that matches a challenge criteria.
Make sure to read the Challenge rules as here it states how many bookings must be completed in a set amount of days to receive the reward. If you fail to complete the challenge within the amount of days set, you will not receive a reward.
My Rewards
The rewards screen is where you can see the benefits you have earned by completing challenges. These rewards are divided into two categories: currently active rewards and collected rewards that haven't been redeemed yet.
To activate a reward:
- In Driver Companion, go to the left-hand menu and select Rewards from the list.
- Under Earned Rewards, select the Your Rewards button.
- Choose which reward to activate by tapping the icon, e.g. 'Skip the Queue'.
- Swipe the bar at the bottom of the screen to use this perk.
When you check your rewards, be sure to read the reward rules. Your operator may have set limitations on how many rewards of a certain type you can hold, and whether or when these rewards expire.
Completing Bookings
Challenges automatically start on completing on a booking that matches the challenge criteria.
Bookings that fulfil the criteria of a challenge or multiple are highlighted by a challenge button which appears on the new Job Offer screen and when viewing the Pre-bookings and Active Bid screens:
Note: Incentives challenges only show on the new job offer screen, they do not show when using the old screen.
Once you complete a job that meets the challenge criteria, you will see the Challenge in progress screen, which states how many more bookings you need to complete to earn your reward.
Operators can pause challenges at any time. If a challenge disappears from your device, it may be because your operator has paused it temporarily or the time frame to complete the challenge has expired.
Open App for Active Bids
We are excited to introduce a new Open App for Active Bids feature. With this feature, whenever a new job is available for bidding, the app automatically comes back onto the screen with the job offer, even when using another app. This helps you to promptly see and bid for new work, without the fear of missing out on any bid offer. You can enable or disable this feature anytime based on your preference.
To use this feature:
- When opening Driver Companion, a message appears asking permission for the app to display over other apps. If you do not want this feature, ignore this message by pressing Skip. To enable this feature, you must select the System Setting option.
- This opens up your device's settings for the Driver Companion application.
- Within these settings look for the Appear on top setting. If it is set to 'Off', tap to open this setting and select the toggle so that it is on. This allows Driver Companion to display above other apps within your device, giving it the ability to pop-open in the foreground when there are suitable active bids.
- Now return to Driver Companion and log in.
- In Driver Companion, open the left-hand menu.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down until you see the 'Open App for Active Bids' option. Tap on the setting to tick the box, enabling this feature.
Note: You will not be able to toggle on this feature unless you have permitted Driver Companion to display over other apps.
Clover Device Support
Driver Companion now allows you to integrate Clover devices to receive payments! Upon opening Driver Companion, you have the option to select a pre-entered device from the list or connect to a new Clover device, provided that this feature is enabled in management.
Before you can connect your Clover device to Driver Companion, you must first enable Clover in Management:
- Go to Driver Companion > Settings Groups > Add-Ons Groups and Add a new Group.
- Fill in the required fields (marked by an ( * ) asterisk) such as name and meter type.
- Navigate to the External Devices tab.
- Under Card Reader Type, use the dropdown menu to select Clover.
- Select Create to apply your Clover Add-On Group.
Receiving Tips
For integration with Clover devices, when a payment is made with a tip from a Clover device, Driver Companion registers the tip separately from the fare amount and sends the values to the system. The tip amount appears as a gratuity to the driver on the payment screen in DC.
Improvements
Improved Landscape View
When using Driver Companion in landscape mode, we have improved the interface of Active Bids, Job History and the Prebooking List to show two columns.
Updated Translations
In this newest release, we have updated the translations available throughout the app to ensure all text has the correct translations available.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed: Issue where a driver can see the messages of another driver on the message centre.
- Fixed: Issue where the app is crashing when a driver checks their assigned prebook job details in landscape mode.
