What is Tipping with PayAtEnd3DS?
Tipping with PayAtEnd3DS allows passengers to tip their drivers at the end of their journey through the Passenger App.
With PayAtEnd3DS, there is no card authorisation during the booking process. When the driver swipes to authorise payment at the end of the trip, the system prompts the user to pay for their booking. At this point, the user has the option to add a tip to the fare amount.
Once the user presses the pay button, a screen appears for the passenger to complete the payment, which includes a 3D Secure (3DS) verification step.
Another tipping option available in the Passenger App uses the Deferred payment method. For more information about this option, please refer to our Tipping (Deferred) article.
How Does Pay At End Tipping Work?
At the end of their journey, when they go to pay for their journey, your passengers have the option to give their driver a predefined tip (based on your AppSettings configuration) or a custom amount. Then, both the final fare amount and tip are processed in one transaction.
How Do I Configure Tipping on My App?
To configure tipping with PayAtEnd3DS payments on your platform, please contact platform.delivery@autocab.com for more information.
There are also several prerequisites you must meet before we can set up tipping on your system, including:
Prerequisites
- Payment method must be set to PayAtEnd3DS on AppSettings (this is an Engineer-only setting, please contact Platform Delivery for help setting up tipping).
- Your payment provider must be set to JudoPay or SagePay/Opayo/Elavon.
- Your Passenger App must be on version 34.3 or higher.
You can configure the predefined amounts that are presented to the user at the end of their journey:
- In AppSettings, go to Passenger App 5G > Payments.
- Under Tipping Configuration, set the following parameters:
- Enable Tipping?: Toggle on to allow passengers to tip drivers at the end of their journey.
- Tipping Option Presets: Choose the type of tip option to present to passengers: a percentage of the final fare or predefined fixed amounts.
- Tipping Values: Enter three values of suggested tipping options, for example, 1% / 3% / 5%. We recommend avoiding setting excessively high values and arranging them in increasing order to prevent confusing passengers or discouraging them from tipping
The option to leave no tip or give a custom amount shows alongside the tipping values.
How Does the Passenger Tip?
At the end of the passenger's journey, on the payment screen, there is an option to select a tip amount to give to the driver in addition to the fare for the journey. The user can choose from a predefined amount, enter a custom amount, or select the option to give no tip at all.
Once the desired tip is selected, the passenger can complete the payment by pressing the 'Pay Now' button.
