The Zone Maker screen gives you full control over your zones and allows you to make minor and major changes to each zone via an interactive map.
To access this screen:
- Click on Zone Maker from the Dispatch > Zones dropdown menu.
Live mode
In this mode, you can view the live configuration of your zones.
To switch to Live Mode:
- Click on the Live Mode button in the top left.
Draft mode
In this mode, you can view and edit your zone configuration as a draft, and then apply this draft to live.
To switch to Draft Mode:
- Click on the Draft Mode button in the top left.
Create a new draft
To create a new draft configuration:
- Click on the New Draft button.
Note: When you create a new draft, the current draft will be overridden and any changes made will apply to all zone areas. (e.g. Zone Maker, Zone List, Backup Zones,...)
Apply a draft to live
To apply your new draft to the live configuration:
- Click on the Apply Draft to Live button.
The live zone configuration will now be replaced with the latest draft configuration.
Configure your zones
The following actions can be used to configure zones in your draft:
Zoom in/out
To zoom in on the map:
- Click on the (Plus) icon.
To zoom out on the map:
- Click on the (Minus) icon.
Centre the map
To centre the map back to its original location:
- Click on the (Target) icon.
Toggle the zone list
To toggle the zones list on and off:
- Click on the (List) icon.
The zone list will now be displayed.
The following actions can be used for each zone:
Rename the zone
To rename the zone:
- Click on the (Field) icon.
- Enter the new Name or Descriptor for the zone.
- Then click Save.
Edit the zone
To edit the zone settings:
- Click on the (Open) icon.
- Configure your zone settings.
- Then click Save.
Delete the zone
To delete the zone:
- Click on the (Trash) icon.
- Then click I'm Sure.
Create zone bounds
To create a new zone:
- Click on the (Create Bounds) icon.
- Click on the map to start the zone.
- Click again to create each new boundary point.
- Click the first point to complete the zone.
- Enter a Name and Descriptor for the zone.
- Then click Confirm.
The new zone will now be added to the map.
The following options are also available when creating a new zone:
- Start Over: Click to clear the boundary points and start over.
- Undo Last: Click to undo the last boundary point added.
- Enable Snapping: If enabled, new boundary points will snap to the nearest neighbouring point.
- Snapping Distance: Click to set the distance for snapping to activate (1 - close, 5 - far).
- Cancel: Click to cancel creating a new zone.
Note: Each new zone will be allocated the next available number and will be ordered accordingly in the zone list.
Edit zone bounds
To edit a zones boundaries:
- Click on a zone on the map.
- Click on the (Edit Bounds) icon.
- Click and hold a boundary point to move it (Optional).
- Click in-between a boundary point to create a new point (Optional).
- Then click Confirm Changes.
The zone's boundaries will now be updated based on your changes.
The following options are also available when editing a zone:
- Confirm Changes: Click to save the changes you've made.
- Undo All: Click to undo all changes.
- Undo Last: Click to undo the last change.
- Create Points on Intersections: Click to create a new boundary point where a zone line overlaps the selected zone.
- Enable Connected Moving: If enabled, any multi-zone connected boundary points will move together rather than separately.
- Enable Snapping: If enabled, new boundary points will snap to the nearest neighbouring point.
- Cancel: Click to cancel editing of the zone.
Toggle polygon centre point
To centre each zone based on the zone boundaries:
- Click on the (Centre Point) icon.
Validate the map
To validate the map and configuration:
- Click on the (Map Check) icon.
If any issues have been found with the configuration they will now be displayed.
Note: You can either fix these issues manually or use the "Auto-fix Zone Boundaries" feature to automatically fix any issues with your zone
If no issues have been found a success message will be displayed.
Auto-fix zone boundaries
To automatically fix any issues with your zone boundaries:
- Click on the (Magic Wand) icon.
Additional actions
The following actions can be found by right-clicking on a zone:
- Edit Bounds: Click to edit the zone boundary points.
- Quick Rename: Click to rename the zone.
- Edit Zone: Click to edit the zone's settings.
- Move to Top: If within overlapping zones, click to send the zone to the top of the layered zones.
- Move Up: If within overlapping zones, click to move the zone up by one place in the layered zones.
- Move Down: If within overlapping zones, click to move the zone down by one place in the layered zones.
- Move to Back: If within overlapping zones, click to send the zone to the bottom of the layered zones.
- Set Zone Centre: Click to manually set the centre of the zone.
- Reset Zone Centre: Click to reset the centre of the zone.
- Copy Zone Centre Coordinates: Click to copy the zone centre point coordinates.
- Delete Zone: Click to delete the zone.
Where to find configuration backups
To view or restore the backup of a previous zone configuration:
- Go to System > Archived > Zone Configurations.
