App permissions - DC+ (Beta)

App permissions - DC+ (Beta)

Info
Driver Companion+ is currently in beta. You may encounter bugs, and features or behaviour may change as improvements and updates are made.
To make sure Driver Companion+ works properly, your device must have the correct permissions enabled.

Permissions

When you open the DC+ app for the first time, you’ll be guided through a short setup to choose your permissions. These permissions help the app show you jobs and keep you connected.

You can review or change your permissions at any time in your phone’s settings.

Inside the app, permissions are shown as:

  1. Enabled – the app is allowed to use this feature.
  2. Disabled – the app cannot use this feature.

Some features may not work correctly if certain permissions are disabled.

Tap the cards below to open more information on the permissions you can enable or disable:

Battery Optimisation

Battery optimisation can cause the GPS to stop working on certain Android devices. As such, we recommend you disable this setting for the best Driver Companion experience.

  • In your Driver Companion settings, tap Permissions > Battery Optimisation > press Allow.

Alternatively, you can update your preferences directly in your device's settings:

Android:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Driver Companion > Battery and select 'Unrestricted'.
Location*

Driver Companion requires permission to access your location to send you nearby jobs.

If you disable Driver Companions access to your location, an unskippable screen appears with the required permissions needed to use DC+. You will need to press 'Proceed' and grant location permission in your system settings. Otherwise, you will not be able to use your Driver Companion app.

To update your location preferences:

Android:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Permissions > Location and select 'Allow only while using the app'. You can also turn on 'Use precise location' (recommended).

iOS:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Location and select 'Always'. You can also turn on 'Precise Location' (recommended).
Display over other apps

When your app is in the background, this setting allows job offers and bids to be displayed, ensuring you don't miss out on any opportunities.

  • In your Driver Companion settings, tap Permissions > Display over other apps > Driver Companion, and toggle to enable.

Alternatively, you can update your preferences directly in your device's settings:

Android:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Appear on top and toggle the 'Allow permission' setting.

Displaying over other apps is not available on iOS devices.

Notifications*

To alert you to jobs, events, and other important updates, we use notifications in Driver Companion.

If you disable notifications, an unskippable screen appears with the required permissions needed to use DC+. You will need to press 'Proceed' and grant permission in your system settings. Otherwise, you will not be able to use your Driver Companion app.

Android:

  • In the app info, tap 'Notifications'. Toggle the 'Allow notifications' settings on and select whether to have sound and vibration, how they appear on your device, the pop-up style and whether to show and hide content when locked.

iOS:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Notifications and toggle on 'Allow Notifications'. Here you can select the type of alerts you receive (lock screen, notification centre and banners).
Bluetooth

Bluetooth must be enabled if you use external devices such as payment terminals or printers.

  • In your Driver Companion settings, tap Permissions > Bluetooth > Allow.

Android:

  • In your device settings, go to Connections and tap the toggle to enable.

iOS:

  • In your device settings, tap the 'Bluetooth' toggle to enable.
Camera

To use your camera to send pictures of your documents to the operator, or to provide a profile picture, you must first enable the camera permission.

  • In your Driver Companion settings, tap Camera > Allow.

Android:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Permissions > Camera and select 'Allow only while using the app'.

iOS:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion and tap the 'Camera' toggle.
NotesNote: This option might not appear initially until interacting with the camera in app.
Microphone

If using voice commands, your microphone must be enabled so you can accept or reject jobs.

  • In your Driver Companion settings, tap Microphone > Allow.

Android:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion > Permissions > Microphone and select 'Allow only while using the app'.

iOS:

  • In your device settings, go to Apps > Driver Companion and tap the 'Microphone' toggle.
